Good Days, Bad Days

By Pastor Larry Merino

Let me tell you about my golf game. Sometimes I hit the ball, it goes straight towards the green and into the hole, and I get a good score. But then, on the very next hole, my ball will go sideways or even 200 yards—in the wrong direction! Then I get a bad score. It keeps going back and forth like that; good score, bad score. Sometimes I think about giving up the game. But I keep on trying at golf because even though I get those bad scores I also hope to get some good scores – and win the game.

Our Christian lives are like my golf game. One day we do things the way Jesus wants us to. For example, we are kind to people, patient with our children, don’t say so many bad words and help other Gypsies. Then we feel pretty good about ourselves. But the next day we mess up pretty bad. For example, we tell lies, steal things, go around mad at everybody and get into fights with people. Then we don’t feel so good about ourselves, because we know that God should punish us for the bad things we do.

But here’s the good news. Instead of punishment, we get Jesus, a man from heaven, who lived His life on earth perfectly. No good days, bad days for him. Jesus never messed up, not even for one day. That’s why He is the only one who could keep us from being punished for the bad things we do. He was punished in our place when He died on the cross.

Every time we mess up, we can be forgiven if we say we are sorry. Now, when we mess up, we don’t have to give up. Even if we mess up a lot, we should keep on trying to live our lives the way Jesus wants us too. This shows that we believe Jesus died for us and that we hope to get eternal life in heaven after we die.

The bible says this is like winning the game, or like a runner who wins a race.
“I run to win the prize that Jesus has already won for me…I am not a winner yet… but I don’t look back, instead I keep on running straight towards the finish line so I can win the prize of eternal life in heaven.”

(Philippians 3:12-14)

Now, what are you going do the next time you mess up?

Welcome

Welcome to Born From Above Outreach, we hope we will be a blessing to you, and your family.
We hope that this is a place you can come to when you are in need of a prayer, and a place to discover how much God loves you. A place to find fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ.

We are a group of Roma and Persian brothers and sisters, who long to share with everyone, God's great love for the world. It is our great hope that the Lord would be a "Light for your feet, and a lamp for your path."  There are a number of Persian and Gypsy (Roma) people who have questions about our Lord Jesus, but feel worried about how they earn their income, or their religious up-bringing.

Here is what our Father says to us in:

Matthew 6:25-26

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them.
And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?"

  Matthew 19:26 says:

Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

                                                                        You Are Not an Accident

Your birth was not a mistake or mishap, and your life is no fluke of nature. Your parents may not have planned you but that doesn’t mean God didn’t plan you. He works even through human error and failings, and he was not surprised by your birth; in fact, he expected it. It is not fate, nor chance, nor luck nor coincidence that you are breathing at this very moment. You are alive because God wanted to create you!

The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11-14

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you declares the Lord."
